EaterWire: Beefs With La Cocina Coming To Dolores Park, Much More!

by Admin on Apr.10, 2011, under San Francisco Resturaunts

La%20Cocina%20HQ.jpgBEEFS – La Cocina, the nonprofit incubator that helps immigrants get off the ground with food businesses, is planning to operate an aluminum trailer in Dolores Park with a rotating selection of food from its clients. Planning a revolt to rival the Blue Bottle debacle of this past fall, former Mayoral candidate John Rinaldi calls this lovely idea an act of “privatization” akin to “opening an auto parts store or a Walmart or a Kentucky Fried Chicken outlet.” He’s already promised “resistance and metric tons of aggravation” to La Cocina’s executive director Caleb Zigas. We can’t help but wonder where Rinaldi was when the pot-laced chocolate guy started selling his wares in Dolores. [Examiner]

COMING ATTRACTIONS – Art education nonprofit Root Division is hosting its Taste 2011 event next Thursday. Chefs from Beretta, Dosa, La Cocina and Tacolicious are among those providing the food. Several mixologists will be on had for the drink side of things. There will also be live music, a silent auction and even a cooking demo by Sharon Ardiana of Ragazza. Find more info and tickets, here. [EaterWire]

TOP DOGSGolden Gate Restaurant Association (GGRA) director Kevin Westlye has moved on to a new role as president of High Flying Foods. Since Westlye was among the founders of SF Chefs, he’ll remain a big part of that; and he’ll still act as a board member of the GGRA. Former VP of Public Policy for the SF Chamber of Commerce, Rob Black will take his place. [ISSF]

NOW OPEN – The second outpost of Cako hath opened in Japantown. SFoodie seems to think it’s “kickass,” with lots of chocolate based flavors like s’mores and caramel. [SFoodie]

by Admin on Apr.10, 2011, under San Francisco Shopping

This week, the bloggers of Fashion/Beauty Friend Friday are discussing our favorite spring trends. I already talked a little bit about my favorite ideas for spring, but now I’ll break it down:

Lucky me, I love maxi-dresses AND they happen to be “in”.

Bright colors

I love bright colors year round, too.

PRINTS

From This Moment dress , Ruche; Magellan dress 8, Anthropologie; Impressionist Print Draped dress , Gap.

And what do you know, I also adore prints! Looks like Spring 2011 was made just for me.
